Behind the Mask

Behind the Mask - 16" x 12", Transparent Watercolor.
I've been falling behind in my blogging and painting lately. To keep the blog fresh, here's a painting I did a couple of years ago. I love the mystique of Venetian masks and thought the candle light added to that.

gorgeous! and the marbles...wow - wonderful reflections - what medium is this (sorry if you already mentioned that)...do you know why the Venetians wore the masks? so they could get away with doing really crazy decadent things and no one would know who they were!

you probably knew that already...sorry for being a blog hog - just love your stuff...

Thanks, Ron!

Adrienne - Thanks! You're so kind. It's a transparent watercolor painting. I guess using my masks as decorations for my studio is pretty boring compared to the original intent. hee hee. Thanks for the interesting history of the masks.
