Backlit Orchids

"Backlit Orchids" 16" x 22", Transparent Watercolor
I'm breaking away from painting furry creatures for a bit. During the long, dreary days of winter, painting something vibrant and colorful helps lighten my mood.

Love these orchids too! Your transparent watercolors are so lovely. Thanks too for visiting my blog. Can't wait to see more of your paintings. :)

Thanks for your recent comments for me Michelle!
I never thought of painting anything lit from behind.. of course the subject has to be something as transparent as the flower for example. You did a great job in bringing the light from underneath, the flowers just glow as much as we can even see the light veins on the petals.
Looking forward to your new work soon :-)
