Ria

Ria - 13" x 11", Transparent Watercolor

I saw this young girl last year and was struck by how beautiful her eyes were. Her mom was gracious enough to allow me to take a few snapshots of her so I could practice portrait painting. I added the veil to add some color and interest to the portrait.

It is a beautiful work, the shine in her eyes and the smile is caught with precision..even the shadows that her hair has formed a pattern on her face is perfect, Michelle! Of course, the veil added a little drama there!

Wow, lovely. Nice job making up the veil.

Thanks, Connie. The veil was surprisingly easier to paint than the face, even though I didn't have a reference photo for it.
